1:00 pm – 5:30 pm | Pre-Conference Workshop - $115/$145 (this is an add-on, not included with conference registration)

Workshop Description:
Relationships between planets are at the core of astrology. The planets’ contentions, alliances, partnerships, and attacks upon one another are the central drama described by every chart. At the heart of each of these stories is a pair of planets, their signature dynamics played out in a mythic cycle. This workshop is a return to those fundamental relationships. Using Hellenistic texts on planetary pairs, two-planet Lot formulae, Vedic dwigraha yogas, and theories of planetary friendship and enmity, we will spend the day exploring the 36 fundamental combinations of the 7 visible planets and the Head and Tail of the Dragon.

Friday, May 27, 2022

9:00 am – noon | Pre-Conference Workshop - $80/$110 (this is an add-on, not included with conference registration)

Workshop Description:
Within successive thirty-year cycles, everyone, at a different age, passes through a 3 ½ year progressed Balsamic dark moon lunation phase. On an ordinary level, this can be a time of loss of identity, relationships, and clear direction. However, when viewed through the lens of night vision, these liminal intervals are rich with spiritual and metaphysical insights, psychological soul work, creative potential, and regenerative healing. Identify and reframe your balsamic dark nights of the soul.

Workshop Description:
“Branding” is a frequent challenge faced by sole proprietors attempting to attract ideal clients. By delving deep into the needs of the Ascendant as styled by the public-facing prowess of the Midheaven, we can begin to paint a self-presentation portrait that allows for accurate & aligned showing up. Based on a proprietary approach to “astroaesthetics,” this workshop will lead participants through a re-contextualization and re-purposing of the Ascendant, Midheaven, and their planetary rulers. We’ll work to better acknowledge the importance of self-presentation as self-preservation and how deliberately-decided aesthetic language participates in personal success.

Workshop Description:
The culmination of 15 years of research and practice as a therapist working with sexual identities, sexual fantasies, sexual trauma, and sexual pleasure, in this workshop I will explore with you how the sky of our birth can be an enlivening companion to sexual exploration, healing, and play. All the gods — and all our planets — are children and grandchildren of Eros, of Desire. We will explore Venus and Mars, also sometimes parents of Eros, but we will also explore connections of Mercury, Saturn, and other mediators of this powerful energy that flows through every planet in complex ways.

Workshop Description:
Naturopathy has a system of healing referred to as ‘Nature’s 7 Doctors’ – they are the seven principles in order to create health and wellbeing in our lives. By combining these 7 principles with the 7 traditional planets, Kira will take you on a journey through your natal chart. You’ll understand the symbolism and impact each of these planets can have on your health and how you can use them to create balance and wellness in your life.

12:45 - 1:15 pm - Opening Ceremony
1:15 - 2:15 pm

Lecture Description:
Astrological patterns that have shaped life since early 2020 are changing and new themes begin to emerge. As Jupiter and the nodes settle into new signs, we’re each invited into a deeper relationship with themes we haven’t explored in a while. Explore how topics like pleasure and pain, connection and separation, the present and the past as well as the desire for individual action and the pursuit of personal goals might become more important. We’ll consider the tone and feel of the cycles that will guide us into 2023.

Despite its ubiquitous nature, leveraging dispositorship (ruling the degree occupied by a planet or point) as a technique has a steep adoption curve, perhaps because so little has been dedicated to its study in the West. Contained within the idea of dispositorship we find acknowledgement of humanity’s wrestling with profound spiritual principles: the contrast between restoration and deprivation, theories on the soul’s interaction with the material, how energy and ideas are transferred from one being to another, etc. Let’s explore. (Traditional) (all)

Additional Lecture:

Saturday / 7:30 pm – Mysticism, Reason and Dogmatics

Lecture Description:
A doctor who can accurately diagnose but possesses no medicine is a frustrating oracle. In astrology, this step from diagnosis to prescription brings us to the art and science of remediation. There are many modalities of remediation, yet the most universal and kind is Planetary Charity. By recognizing the suffering we are destined to encounter and engaging with it in a conscious, helpful, way, we relieve our own difficulties. This lecture teaches the perspective and technical intricacies of this method.  (Traditional, Hellenistic) (intermediate)

(Vibrational Astrology) (intermediate)

Lecture Description:
It’s a sticky wicket when exploring a child’s horoscope. Maneuvering through the high points can provide basic direction, but when it gets to some of those complex aspects, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the morass of expectations and lose track of many simple truths present in the chart. Additional Lectures:

Sunday / 9:00 am – When Eclipses Get Personal

Lecture Description:
Understanding and utilizing multiple astrological techniques is key to a personal and professional practice; communicating that understanding, making it relevant to our lives and the lives of our clients, is another skill entirely. The complexities of planetary cycles give us opportunity to witness how stories weave together, and give us a place to begin. (Contemporary Fusion) (intermediate/advanced)

Lecture Description:
Not feeling heard, lack of intimacy, miscommunication, betrayal and absence of desire, are some of the common challenges experienced by couples. All too often these lead to painful ruptures in relationships. Saturday / 10:15 am – Traditional Astrology Practicum: Venus Talisman

Lecture Description:
I see us in a time of vast acceleration of growth. Change so in your face that it is difficult to integrate. Change so strong it can traumatize. What is no longer relevant gets sheared away. Change that may feel forced on me. Some are excited. Others are fearful, choosing denial, attempting to stop the waves of change in any way possible. Perhaps we find both of these voices within us. The “me” I’ve known for so long seems to be drifting away. What is going on? Who am I now? Where am I now? How will I survive this? Will I survive this? A significant shift for me has been the gradual realization that all of this, with its pain and inconvenience, is all for my benefit. Life really is On My Side. Somehow, in the long run, it all works out. I am changed because of the experiences I would never have consciously chosen. I don’t have to like any of this. It’s OK to hate it, if that is how I feel. I’m unlikely to feel it while I’m in the fray, but somehow, over time, I may actually find spontaneous gratitude appearing. Gratitude for what I have become as a direct result of the changes I survived.

1:00 pm
2:30 – 3:45 pm

Planetary Decades, also called Decennials, is a simple, clear, and useful Hellenistic timing technique. Though described by Hephaestio of Thebes, Vettius Valens, and Firmicus Maternus, it has yet to receive the attention it deserves. Using Evolutionary Astrology, we’ll explore transition and growth periods in progressed charts that may not show up in natal analysis. (E.A., Modern) (intermediate)

Saturday / 4:15 pm – A Brief Introduction to Electional Astrology

Who are you in your birth chart? Where and how do you show up in your life? What perspective are you seeing life from? How might one’s various identities show up in a birth chart? In this lecture we’ll explore the ways in which essential dignity (or lack thereof), house placement, sect, and other characterizations of planet’s condition can reflect one’s lived experience in their body & in the societies and cultures in which they belong. (Traditional) (beginner/intermediate)

Lecture Description:
At the root of any action lie the seeds of the past. In electional astrology, any chart we choose for our beginning is always connected with “root” charts, including nativities, other inceptions, and mundane events. These roots ground the elected action within evolving personal stories as well as collective concerns. This talk examines radical elections, demonstrating specific techniques for rooting our charts, situating this practice within the tradition, and contemplating how our astrology may grow when we take roots seriously.

Lecture Description:
By transit and progression, the oscillations of Mercury and Venus from Morning Star to Evening Star reflect a continual process in the psyche of connecting with deep implicit material, unnarrated memory, and primal affect; and bringing these into sensuous embodiment and expression.  In this talk, we will explore ancient myths of Venus and Mercury alongside modern stories drawn from experiential therapeutic work – involving rhythm, music, dance, image-making, and animal relations – to explore how they help us connect to what is outside our existing stories and grammars, by engaging the felt sense and the willingness to be polymorphous and psychically hermaphroditic.

7:30 - 8:30 pm

Lecture Description:
With this NORWAC as one of the astrology community’s first live conference in two years, we can reflect on what we’ve learned in these years when we’ve not physically met. Our second half focuses on medical elections: elective surgery dates, inoculations, and other elective medical concerns. Judith shares her trade secrets honed from decades of successful elections. “There is a time to every purpose under heaven”. Its amazing to design an ‘election’, then watch the miracle!

You’ll re-vision these planets and come to appreciate the nuances and multi-layered expression they can have in a chart and life. Discover the subtle ways a planet in detriment or fall can show up, and expand your astro-vocabulary so that you can interpret and describe these planets in meaningful ways.
